The Eleventh Little Indian Boy

Friday, May 17, 2002:

A very funny exchange of words from a conversation(not the exact wording, but the overall direction is dead on) that I overheard a couple of days ago while driving.....

Girl: "So you are really 26?
Boy: Yeah
Girl: Wow, I'm shocked because you really don't look it at all!
Boy: Haha....yeah.....
Girl: You don't because you have somewhat of a baby face
Boy: Smooth as a baby's bottom. (Ok I made this last part up, but boy generally agreed)
Girl: And you kind of have that thuggish look to you....which is wierd because most people usually grow out of it.
Boy: ..........

I guess you had to be there, but me and my passenger riding shotgun where just keeling over with laughter!
Keep your head up high OpK alright? Hahahaaa!!

Top 10 plays of the week....well 3 or 4 atleast: Difficulty in focusing at work / how can programmers stare at a screen for so long? / migranes suck / didn't think I'd make it past Friday.....whew!!! I love it when I'm wrong sometimes, Short and concise study of Jonah 3 / how repentent was he really? / Have a safe trip DY......I hope that you will find many opportunities to share and bring some great stories back to tell...watch out for the Hooligans!!!, Interesting evening after Lumps / JY all over the friskies / impromptu apt. tours / midnight snack out at Steps / chocolate souflee, lemon gelatto concoction, chocolate raspberry cheesecake......so this is what sin must taste like / Francesco was chillin but the new guy was just going off / if you can't sign...then you might as well be in Africa / a very happy unbirthday to you!!! to you!!!

Its been a long day. Friday. Lack of sleep. Zombified frame of mind. Not much to write about. Haven't really been thinking all day. Gonna go home and eat. Read a bit. Perhaps a pitstop at Toys R Us to try and find DS some yodas and black anakins. What a long strange trip it has been.......blogFu where the heck are you?

Aaaarrrgggghhh!!! So many telemarketers and door to door salesmen today!!! I'm usually a pretty nice guy when it comes down to getting my point across....but when I feel like my intelligence is truly being insulted....the gloves come off baby. Anyways, I finally got to check out the Spider Man movie with JY last night. We ended up forking out full admission at the box office, but were unexpectedly satisfied when the showing turned out to be on an IMAX screen. One can only hope that Episode 2 will also get such treatment. Here are my thoughts and opinions about the aforementioned:

About the movie in general.....great casting job....Tobey Maguire, William Dafoe, Kirsten Dunst, even James Franco as Harry Osbourne....nailed the characters down cold. Especially Dafoe.....remember him as Elias from Platoon?.....there were a few monologues that he performed throughout the movie that just petrified me with how skilled he is at the acting craft. I really thought that he was insane!! Great sound and effects. I'm not sure as to how accurate the story was in reference to the actual Marvel universe....but it had enough parallels to convince a casual webhead like me.

Interesting things floating around my noggin while watching.....When Mary Jane threw the nickname "Tiger" out at Peter Parker.....that one kind of gave me chills....Harry Osbourne was a good looking guy.....but he reminded me a little of Hayden Christensen as Anakin in the upcoming Star Wars movie (especially when he was wearing black), kind of aloof but deceptively keen of what really mattered throughout his life....There are supposed to be 2 more of these in the near future....are we going to see Venom? Dr. Octopus? Carnage?....please....please.....tell me that they're going to bring out Felicia Hardy.....oh yeah.

The only real negative thing that I can extract from the experience was the fact that we were sitting next to a young family that had a small child. Maybe like 5 or 6. Its good that I was positioned closest to them (cause I know that JY would have thought about doing something crazy......or atleast have been bothered enough to be peeved), because the kid was very chatty throughout the film. They also had to keep getting up and going in and out as well. Whatever man....kids are cute like that.... atleast there wasn't an old smelly black man who kept a running commentary the whole time, with a pack of fat middleschool delinquents talking dirty behind us as well....my Blade 2 experience....ask MC....he knows the deal.....when thinking back on that day....I should have turned around and kicked ALL their butts....=)

The past weekend was pleasantly eventful and the box score looks a little something like this: Breakfast at JD's / super combo breakfast ( 7eggs, pancakes, and a ton of assorted meats) / ideal meal for 2 compacted into the depths of one hungry mug, Rowell Rodeo Parade / why was the asian guy stuck driving L'il Herby? (somebody call Johnny Cochrane) / boy scout pooper scoopers cracked me up / GW + malnourished straw cowboy hat = Howdy Doodie baby!!!, Balled with the fellas......more details below, Dinner at that Japanese joint again / so girls can really hurt like the guys can too? / Katsu Udon.....so good, Much needed beauty sleep, I love my mommie, How did the Lake Show manage to pull that one off / Kobe for president, Great sermon on the joys and lessons to be learned in praising through song / always enjoy the fruits of communion, The ROCK / My GOD is greater than the air I breathe / oh yeah!!, Dinner at Steps of Rome / kind of light on mother's day / Francesco was still quite the magician / School master JY....spank spank!! / new girl behind counter was cute and pleasant to look at....bad LIB....hahaha!

Holy Cow!!! There are so many interesting / trivial things that I could blog about from the last few days.....but I'm just gonna concentrate on the two that were in my mind for the longest duration.....in some particular order:

So I got the chance to ball some 5's with the fellas on Sat. Typical day....nice and sunny....slight breeze....more guys showed up than the last time....so I knew there would be some good comp. Through the last few weeks of basketball I've met a whole bunch of people that don't go to Lumps. It's pretty neat because every single one of them turned out to be pretty cool and I'm always glad to be able to meet some new faces. My favorite part of the experience was discovering the fact that....ok, anonymity is usually the PC way to go when mentioning specific people, but in this case..... my man Andy Pan has got serious game!!! It was fun cause his team (which also had Krabby as 2nd fiddle(r)) was deep enough to win like 10 games in a row. I don't think anyone wanted to go home before these guys lost so we ended up playing almost 4 1/2 hours. It was insane!! I played with this dude JM (guy I just met) and also had the Jabrone on my squad.......to this day I still can't explain how we lost 6 in a row. Oh well.....atleast we beat them on the 7th try in the end.....albeit they were probably exhausted....still....couldn't go home without winning atleast one.

With the coming and going of Mother's day this year....interestingly enough.....this past week I discovered a bird's nest ( these super birds made a nest out of rocks and dirt somehow....and made it stick to the side of a wall out back near the loading dock at work) full of chirping babies. The way that I found them was that I heard a loud series of chirping and squacking one afternoon. When I went out to see what all the fuss was about....I saw the momma bird chasing and pecking the head of this alley cat which had wandered into our back area. MAN!!! It was like straight out of a funniest video show or something. After vanquishing the cat, mommaB spotted me out near the door and started to come after me a swoop'in and a holler'in. I could have taken her out....seriously =).....but I decided to head back indoors and let her tend to her brood in peace.....Made me think though.....Top five random attributes of my momma bird?:

1.) tough as nails, but equally loving

2.) Is in tune with what the kids are into....caught the Phantom Menace with me and avidly keeps up with Smallville and
Making the Band

3.) Aside from being a great parent....also takes great care of all our pets (referred to as cat and dog siblings) back home

4.) Can eat with the big boys ( steak, sushi, ice cream, etc.) and still maintain her figure

5.) Putting up with all my shenanigans thoughout the ages.....and being able to bring them up in jest
during conversations with my friends.

Yep, a definate thanks goes out to my moms for keeping all those cats away till I could get out and fend them off on
my own....haha......

I

Not many people know about the ELEVENTH little indian boy. Quite simply he was the one who didn't really want to follow in the footsteps of the other 10 and at times even held grandiose dreams of being a cowboy one day. In a world that is changing ever so fast, one can only hope and pray.
