The Eleventh Little Indian Boy

thoughts and Fractions from time spent so far here at home in texas:

christmas gifts....i was out at the grocery store a few days ago and saw this cute little girl shopping with her mom. the thing that stood out about her was that she was wearing an ankle length black fur coat ( novelty fur...like muppet or teddybear ) and a pair of siamese cat stuffed animal slippers with blue eyes ( much like our cat simba ). on instinct i asked hEr mom if the items were christmas gifts and she responded with, " as soon as she put them on we knew that she would probably wear them around everywhere for a few days." it made go back a bit and think about gifts that i've gotten as a kid and really cherished. i've gotten robots, game systems, gi joes, etc...but my fondest gift from my parents/santa was the crayola crayon carousel i got somewhere in the my youth. man, when I saw that sucker in my stocking....the first thing I did was say a prayer to santa that ended something like.....thank you santa claus....where ever you are!!! cheesy!!!! still, there were a zillion crayons in that thing and a funky crayon shaped sharpener to sweeten the pot....=)

food: there are so many things to eat out here!!! most for around five bucks.....buffets included. went to ci ci's pizza.....buffet and drink for $5.37......souper salad....buffet and drink for $5.86......taco cabana....a dozen fLour tortillas and eight oz. bowl of queso con carne for $3.76......when you've spent the last year shelling out an average of ten bucks per trip at swank san francisco eateries, finding places like these with their value menus are comparable to toilet paper and water in most third world countries. other places to enjoy......papa john's pizza, tacqueria cancun ( $3.25 light plate.....like two lbs. of food!! ), county line , hooters ( two for one wings at happy hour....I am serious. ), kirin, willie ray's, drexler's bbq, los cucos, ......sigh.....too many to list.

soccer moms: dude, there are so many soCcer moms roaming the streets of my neighborhood. i'm sure that they appear naturally in all cities and environments....but the ones down here.....more aggressive and self centered to say the least. i was driving on a major street in my hood last week when this huge truck starts tailing me and flipping the high beams on and off as well. i was like....dang! the speed limit is 45 mph and i'm going 55....what's up? the truck then swerves left....into the fast lane....and roars past me only to catch a fresh red at an upcoming intersection. I pull up right next to it and to my surprise...it's a soccer mom....with her kids....chain smoking....and talking on a cell phone.....unbelievable!! other instances where i've witnessed them at their best....berrating a deli worker at the local grocery store, making a mess at a restaurant with the family and leaving a meager....minusuto dinero....tip, chatting loudly away into a cell phone while shopping at a book store....much to the annoyance of other ustomers and staff, etc. i know i know.... not all soccer moms are bad....i live next to a few that are really nice....but still. they are very much like the jedi......there are jedi and there are sith.....and it seems like the sith have somehow made a comeback in the last few years.

weather: el freaking nino.....the weather here is out of control!!! I'm talking warm eighties in the day time and cool thirties in the evening. i was shopping for rockets gear at a sporting goods store last week ( seems like everything has occured in the span of a week. ) when all of a sudden the roof started to shake. immediately i thought....earthquake!!! realizing that i was not in an areA known for activity along fault lines, it became deathly obvious that a major storm was brewing. long story short....a light tornado had touched down in the area and pinned most of us shoppers in our darkened stores for a good thirty minutes. i had to buy a jacket on the spot because the weather literally dropped twenty degrees within minutes. came out and there was debris and garbage blown everywhere!!! the most damage done was to an adjacent shopping center where the roof was partially removed and a large neon sign had beome dislodged and fell crashing to the ground. the next day i awoke to find that one of my car windows had been spider webbed by hail....kinda annoying....but i'm certainly thankful that i was blessed to be able to walk away with only that.

the sims: this game is so addicting. i started playing a game that i had last saved around christmas time last year. first thing i noticed....my household consisted of jimmy and gwyn....nice. occupations.....hospital chief of staff and senator.....cumulative worth.....a million plus. sweet!! as soon as i reaLized that my sister had uploaded all the expansion items, i immediately started playing with the game and started messing around with all the new options. before i knew it......five hours had passed by and it was dinner time. that really freaked me out. of course, it was neat that my characters had morped into an award winning actor and his crime lord wife.....but still....the fact that time was so easily wasted really blew me away. i haven't touched the game since that day. sigh....can you imagine if life actually worked like that?

yao ming: in an earlier post i stated frankly that yao ming would be a big negative to the chemistry and overall competitiveness of the rockets if they drafted him. boy, did ever eat my words with that one. people here love big yao....it's really neat. his face is plastered all over the city. out in chinatown....all they talk about is yao ming. people who never went to a game in their life are now sEason ticket holders. his rookie cards are selling for hundreds of dollars. most importantly....he has made a positive contribution to the team and hasn't caused any rifts in daily operations for a single day. the contract was somehow taken care of before the season started. his english is vastly improving.....what he does say to the media is usually very humble and reserved. he gets along with franchise and cat. loves steak and potatoes. wants to buy a hummer. this kid is great. i really think that he's gonna be something special this season......and can only get better with age and experience. still....jabrone....if you think I'm willing to part with kobe for him in fantasy league.....keep dreaming buddy....=)

nothing major to report other than usual holiday festivities and reunions......i hope that everyone out there had an enjoyable holiday and is looking forward to starting off the neW year with a bang....resolutions or not.....haha. i'll see you when i see you.....peace.

Not many people know about the ELEVENTH little indian boy. Quite simply he was the one who didn't really want to follow in the footsteps of the other 10 and at times even held grandiose dreams of being a cowboy one day. In a world that is changing ever so fast, one can only hope and pray.
