The Eleventh Little Indian Boy

Lots of interesting experiences the past few days.....Not really in the mood to recap in my usual cryptic form of song.....so here are my thoughts on things that made me smile or move.

1.) As a student my birthday ( Jan 9th ) has traditionally fallen on certain days during the winter break year after year. Needless to say I don't really expect all that much around that time. The constant variables that I can count on every year are a card from my mother, phone call from my father wherever he is, and email/phone message from my sister a couple days afterwards, and a card/call from my boy TimC out in Shreveport. Long story short...to me...B-days are not a big deal. This year I was pretty happy that the DDDSA house wanted to take me out for an intimate dinner....so I thought....they ended up taking me to a restaurant full of surprise well wishers bearing thoughts and gifts. I dang near cried...dang near meaning I was totally caught off guard and instantly thankful. The thing that I thought was messed up was that I was calling people beforehand to see what they were up to ( cause I felt tired and wanted someone to share some tea with later ) and routinely got excuses or bogus replies....you know who you all are.....only to see their smiley faces at dinner later on....messed up....but in a clever way of course. Thanks to all who were able to make it....I'll be sending something out really soon....=)

2.) Anti War Protest on Market Street.....I've never been to something of this magnitude before....picketed with some Hilton workers for a bit near the wharf....but never an all out gathering like this event. There were thousands of people out there....mostly bearing signs and elaborate costumes. JY filmed a bit and is gonna make a music video of all the funny things we saw around us. It was funny to me b/c I actually am in favor of war with Iraq....if the reasoning is concrete and choice is an absolute must.....basically if the threat is REAL.....but here I was walking around in symbolic unison with these radical left wingers. Oh the people....punk rock types with green hair, butch WWE lesbian activists, Yuppie ex-hippie CEO types with their families and dogs, Really scary wierd folk who could one day lead the anarchist revolution, kids who just wanna have fun, and types like me and JY.....cynical bald graphic design junkie and tall conservative texan kid there for the experience. Here are some of the funnier signs that we saw:
Go Solar not Ballistic, Don't be a Fossil Fool, Saddam tried to kill my daddy back in 91....one term one term one term, Who would Jesus Bomb?, Fighting for Peace is like *$(#)%& for virginity ( crass but insanely creative )........next time....gotta make our own signs and get on TV for sure!!

You know.....it's alot easier describing stuff in short rather than trying to chronicle them out in detail. Feeling sluggish tonight so I guess I'll cut this one short a a bit. Parting thoughts.....Thierry Henry, I Corinthians chapter 5, gotta drink the pho juice, Bugs is so cute, floor Jordan, baby brie, run sticklets run, the Rose, Frank Avagnale Jr., Elisabeth Elliot, Japanese restaurant hostess, chicken, and finally.....
Black Pete.....good to hear from you dog.

Totally over it...=P. I am surprised as to how many people actually read my postings and wanted to know what was up with the negativity....it's nice to be loved...haha.

I just witnessed what I would call one of nature's little miracles while walking around out near Ocean Beach tonight....actually there were a couple of things involved. Aside from the sinking sun and gigantic waves crashing into the beach, I noticed a large elevated patch of sand, a bar if you will, jutting out above the water line and interrupting the natural flow of the waves. The incoming water actually split evenly right at the bar's head and made its way around the sides while reconvening at the other end forming a perfect ovular island. This phenomenon also created a minor current that flowed perpendicular to the incoming waves so that a little " moat " seemed to form and protect the entrance to this island paradise...haha. There were three notable things that I thought were tres cool about the above mentioned experience.....

1.) As the sun was setting the sky was and iridescent red/purple......nice right? Well the patch of raised sand was very much wet and relected the colors of the sky perfectly. Words can't describe how scenic the whole picture was, but I was truly disappointed that there was no camera around so I could take a picture.

2.) This guy was walking his two dogs along the beach. Jack Russell terriers....think Eddie from Frasier....anyways, the doggies were busy pushing a little soccer ball back and forth when they suddenly lost control and it floated away into the water.....near the sandbar. After about 20 minutes of extending various efforts in trying to retrieve the ball ( the owner kept tossing the smaller dog into the water but it repeatedly swam back for some reason...haha ) the larger dog summed up all courage and ran through the shallow end of the moat onto the bar to grab the ball. As soon as his jaws locked down the dog took off running back towards the beach. Problem was that the moat was getting thicker again and water was gushing in from both sides. Long story short the dog hightailed it outta there and just made it seconds before the water came rolling in....much like the red sea in biblical proportions.....he yelped and jumped just as the foam nipped his fanny a bit near the beach..... Dogs are funny.

3.) Saw the most perfect shooting star in my entire life. It looked like a flaming tennis ball falling from the sky...had to make a wish of course...got a feeling it's gonna come true in due time....=P.

I dunno....I tried to recap this encounter to the Capitol when I returned back to the DDS house....but he didn't seem all that moved....maybe those of you who are reading this now don't feel much interest either....it's all good....little moments/miracles like this are most brilliant when viewed in person....like telling someone how good a meal was....but they can't fully understand what you're describing unti they taste for themselves....Hungry......think I'm gonna go fix myself a sandwich....=P.

Not many people know about the ELEVENTH little indian boy. Quite simply he was the one who didn't really want to follow in the footsteps of the other 10 and at times even held grandiose dreams of being a cowboy one day. In a world that is changing ever so fast, one can only hope and pray.
