The Eleventh Little Indian Boy

Excerpt of a nice article I read earlier:

Washington Wizards: The Washington Post's Tom Boswell has one of the best articles on Michael Jordan that I've read this season. In an age when players don't leave it all on the floor, Jordan is fighting back pain and age to get his team to the playoffs one last time. "The doctor talked to him before the game, I was standing right there, and he said, 'Michael, there's a chance your back might spasm up again,' " coach Doug Collins said. "Michael said, 'Is it life-threatening?' The doctor said, 'No.' Michael said, 'Then I'm going to play.'"

Michael Jordan is amazing. One of the all-time fiercest competitors in the history of professional sports. The cool thing is that over the years his image has been so carefully crafted though various media outlets that when you do happen upon some spectacular story about him, it doesn't seem so extraordinary...because he's Mike....and you wanna be like him. Yet with things like scoring 40 in the finals while ailing , coming back from sabatical in the bush leagues to win another trio of championships, returning a third time to resurrect a dying franchise while continuing to play at a very high level, and now.....persevering through injury to will his team into the post season.....there are those out there who still underestimate his mental prowess.....how can you not like this guy? Don't worry....My eyes weren't blistering with tears while writing this last paragraph. I do have much respect for him as a player though. Even more so now than when he was scoring 40 a night and jumping outta the gym on a nightly basis. Gonna miss him when he leaves for good. I still wanna be like Mike. Shut up MC....=P.

Not many people know about the ELEVENTH little indian boy. Quite simply he was the one who didn't really want to follow in the footsteps of the other 10 and at times even held grandiose dreams of being a cowboy one day. In a world that is changing ever so fast, one can only hope and pray.
