The Eleventh Little Indian Boy

Thursday, March 27, 2003:

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give fate the fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances but they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you'll give faith the fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

These paragraphs are condensed from a popular song performed by LeeAnn Womack. The lyrics are catchy to me b/c they serve as a reminder that we are easily overwhelmed and lost when things in our lives seem tough. That our vision is easily clouded and sometimes you have to find that sense of courage and carry on. Or in the Capitol's instance....just dance...haha. Anyways, the song was played on the radio this morning during my commute. It reminded my of a buddy of mine who I've recently chatted with. Someone who is always in the mix and never ceases to make me laugh. Great song.

*POP*...what the heck was that? Just the bubble bursting and reality reappearing into my frame of mind....=P

In response to the Jabrone's accusations that my past experiences in protest were not entirely legitimate......you got me there.....I was totally a poser...Haha. For JYee and myself, it was more about the experience of the times rather than the message being sent by the people. The recent gatherings down in the city have been utterly ridiculous though. I think that they embody a gross misinterpretation of our first amendment rights. What do you gain by clogging up the heart of the city and slowly squeezing the life out of it? Hey! We don't want War!! Let's stop traffic and try and stream on to the bridge!! Woo hoo!! We're costing the city half a million a day in containment costs!! That'll get our message across!! People....I tell you...no further comment.

My thoughts about Operation Iraqi Freedom? Above all of the pros and cons, it came down to one thing. Iraq had ample time and opportunities to cooperate with the global coalition. Other tidbits of thought: The Hussein administration has a long history of corruption and tainted policy. People who were not members of the ruling Baath party were struggling to exist. Lives will be lost and I hope that the duration of the war will be short. I stand by my country, the decisions of my president, and the troops that he sends. Oh....and one last piece to chew on.....France Sucks....=P

"you know the world is changing when the best rapper
is white, the best golfer is black, the Germans want
peace, and the French are calling the Americans
arrogant."
-unknown

Haha......For Real!!!

Have you heard anything about Sultan Koren? He's a Turkish 20 year-old who is said to be 7-11 and will grow to be 8-2. When will he enter the draft? Will a team waste a pick drafting him?

David Valera

*** David: I actually wrote something in the magazine about Kosen (not Koren) a few weeks ago. The big thing to remember is that he has never played pro basketball before and, though he was signed by a Turkish team, he is a long way from even stepping onto a court. He needs surgery on his back and knees before he will be physically able to play, and that does not bode well for his future as a player.

Would a team use a pick on him? Of course, with that size. Certainly not this year, because of the surgery problem, but maybe down the road. Remember, he has to put his name into the draft to be eligible, until the year he turns 22. So he will be draft-eligible in two years, and a team picking in the late first round might see it as worth a try to pick him up.

What in the world? This kid is eventually gonna fill out to be 8"2? MAN, where do they find these people and what are they feeding them? The boy could donate 5 inches off of his total height and he'd still be a legitimate NBA prospect. In fact shorties around the world ( not to mention around the Bay ) would be lining up to get some free height. Haha. Two more years to go....we'll see if the hype is ever justified.....I can see it now...Lebron taking off from the free throw line and tomahawking one over the 8 footer....=P.

Haha...I need a haircut....starting to look like an over fertilized plant......=)

Not many people know about the ELEVENTH little indian boy. Quite simply he was the one who didn't really want to follow in the footsteps of the other 10 and at times even held grandiose dreams of being a cowboy one day. In a world that is changing ever so fast, one can only hope and pray.
